Keep US Covered: Statement on Biden Administration Proposal to Fix “Family Glitch”

April 5, 2022

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Keep US Covered's Executive Director Sonja Nesbit released a statement following the Biden Administration’s announcement of its proposed fix to the Affordable Care Act’s “family glitch.”

The statement reads:

“Keep US Covered commends President Biden for taking executive action to improve access to quality health coverage for American families, and we are hopeful the president will continue to use the tools available to him to advance health care quality and equity issues. Specifically, we urge the administration to follow through on the president’s first health care executive order and roll back the Trump-era regulations that expanded junk insurance and created ICHRAs, a system that opens the door to discrimination in workplace health benefits. Advancing health equity means bringing costs down and ensuring Americans have access to quality coverage, and addressing ICHRAs and junk insurance does both.”
