“President Biden has a real opportunity to advance health equity, strengthen the Affordable Care Act, and restore quality coverage for millions of Americans – and he can do it without the help of Congress. American workers need the Biden Administration to act urgently to roll back Trump-era rules that created potentially harmful and discriminatory schemes like Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangements (ICHRAs) and expanded short-term limited duration insurance (STLDI) – better known as junk insurance. Americans deserve quality health coverage that’s there when they need it most. These Trump administration policies undermine the progress we have made. We hope President Biden uses his State of the Union address to reaffirm a commitment to reversing these rules and build a stronger health care system. Keep US Covered will continue to urge the President to strengthen health equity and access to quality coverage.”

 

Keep US Covered and its seven campaign partners recently sent a letter to President Biden, encouraging him follow through on executive orders and do away with ICHRAs and junk insurance. The letter marked the two-year anniversary of the order that directed federal agencies to review these harmful rules.
